Tim is the Managing Partner of JKJ Financial Services (JKJFS), an independent life insurance and financial advisory firm. Tim represents the third generation of ownership and leadership of the enterprise, which is a successor of 1934 Group, a firm which dated back to that year. JKJFS and its sister companies at Johnson, Kendall and Johnson (JKJ) assist people and companies in the U.S. and abroad with benefits and retirement services, full service insurance brokerage and risk management.
JKJFS (and its predecessor entity) has (have) been a member / owner of the M Financial Group (“M”) since 1989. M, founded in 1978 and now with 130 firms, is one of the nation’s leading financial services design and distribution companies, serving the needs of ultra‐affluent individuals, corporate executives, successful entrepreneurs, and Fortune 1000 companies. Additionally, M owns a substantial reinsurance company. Tim was very involved in the governance of M for 20 years, and from 2014 to 2024, Tim served on M’s Board of Directors, serving on or chairing a number of committees.
Also for more than the past 20 years, Tim has been significantly involved with Finseca (formerly the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting [AALU]), the life insurance industry’s political and technical arm, headquartered in Washington, D.C. Tim has had many leadership positions at Finseca / AALU, including serving as chair of its Annual Meeting (2011), and chairing the committee responsible for its policy positions for interactions on Capitol Hill. Tim served a 3‐year term on the AALU’s Board of Directors.
Prior to joining the firm more than 30 years ago, Tim worked with three major insurance companies, from 1989 to 1993, in traditional actuarial roles.
Tim has also served as a Director / Board Member for a number of other entities, including: Crozer‐Keystone Health System (CKHS), prior to its 2016 acquisition by Prospect Medical Holdings (and after the acquisition, Tim served on the local Governing Committee for the system, until January 2020); Dunwoody Village, a continuing care retirement community in Newtown Square, PA (2014‐2017); and Rocchino Family Foundation (2016‐Present), serving the Philadelphia Community with grants for Education and Health Care.
From 2003 to 2019, Tim was very actively involved with Philadelphia Futures, a program for Philadelphia’s public high school students to help them work toward, gain admission to, and have success in college. Closer to home, from 2013 to 2019, Tim was deeply engaged with coaching local, youth baseball.
Tim is an actuary (Associate of the Society of Actuaries [1992], Member of the American Academy of Actuaries [1993]). He holds the CLU and ChFC designations, and he is a member of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council.
Tim received a BA in Physics from Swarthmore College. He lives in Wallingford, Pennsylvania, with his wife Stephanie, while their three children have embarked on their undergraduate and post‐graduate journeys. Their family enjoys their frequent visits to Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
