Nicole Monroe

Nicole Monroe joins Teach Plus as Illinois Education Leadership Coach as part of a new initiative to support teachers who have expressed interest in becoming school administrators in a three-tiered learning fellowship for approximately 50 teacher leaders.

Nicole Monroe has 24 years of urban education experience and has served as a teacher, lead teacher, program director, resident and assistant principal, and most recently as a principal on the south side of Chicago. As a school leader, Nicole championed the school redesign process and elevated her school to a nationwide model for personalized learning, implemented fine and performing arts as an instructional identity, earned the highest SEL accreditation, and supported the development of teacher leaders and administrators throughout the district.

She is passionate about coaching and utilizes mentoring as an important strategy for supporting the professional and emotional development of teacher leaders. Nicole is a graduate of New Leaders for New Schools, a certified professional coach, and has earned degrees and professional certifications from National Louis University, Concordia University and Harvard Graduate School of Education.
