Director, PA Needs Teachers Coalition and PA Policy Fellowship

Emily Sagor

Emily (she/her) is the Director, PA Needs Teachers Coalition and PA Policy Fellowship at Teach Plus, with expanded responsibilities to advance Teach Plus Pennsylvania’s educator workforce policy and teacher leadership efforts. In this role, she will lead the PA Needs Teachers Coalition and the PA Policy Fellowship, strengthen partnerships across Pennsylvania, and help shape statewide educator workforce policy by elevating teacher voice, developing teacher leaders, and advancing solutions that strengthen and diversify the educator pipeline.

For the past 12 years, Emily has held multiple roles in education, including classroom teacher, coach of teachers and leaders, program director, and education policy analyst. Emily began her career as a Teach For America corps member in the inaugural Southern New Mexico cohort, then supported teachers and leaders as a coach in both New Mexico and Philadelphia. Her school-based roles deepened her commitment to students and educators, enabling her to advocate for community-informed and research-based policies as a nonpartisan staffer for the New Mexico legislature.

Emily holds a B.A. in political science from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s in public policy from the University of New Mexico. In her free time, Emily loves to play card games with her husband, spoil her dog, and take her nephews on adventures around Philadelphia.
