Tommorrow “Tommie” Snyder joins Teach Plus as Illinois Manager, Policy and Community Engagement. In this role, she expands Teach Plus Illinois’ capacity to achieve ambitious policy goals by activating and mobilizing educators, alumni, and partners into coordinated advocacy and organizing efforts. She leads coalition strategy and alumni engagement, supports educator leadership development, and works to strengthen partnerships that elevate educator voice and advance policies that improve outcomes for students across Illinois.
Prior to joining Teach Plus, Tommie served as Program Manager for Chicago Public Schools, where she led community engagement and stakeholder strategy for a federally funded school integration planning grant. She previously served as Director of Community & Family Partnerships at Stand for Children Illinois, where she led statewide family engagement, coalition-building, and advocacy initiatives. During her nearly decade-long tenure with Stand for Children, she progressed from parent volunteer and fellow to director-level leadership, reflecting her deep commitment to developing leaders and creating pathways for meaningful civic engagement. Throughout her career, she has partnered with educators, families, community organizations, and policymakers to advance educational equity and strengthen public education systems.
A first-generation college graduate, Tommie earned honors degrees from both Harold Washington College and DePaul University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership Studies. She lives in Chicago and enjoys reading, writing, exploring local coffee shops, and spending time with family and friends. She is passionate about building community, developing leaders, and creating opportunities for people to drive positive change in their schools and communities.
