Laura Sosik has supported and advocated for her students and school community as an elementary school teacher in Scranton, PA, for 18 years. In addition to her work on Teach Plus Pennsylvania’s Regional Advisory Board, Laura is also a Teach Plus National Policy Advisory Board Senior Member. She has served as a Senior Policy Fellow and Policy Fellow with Teach Plus PA since 2021. During her time as a teacher advocate with Teach Plus, she has helped secure multi-billion-dollar increases in state education funding with a focus on underfunded districts like Scranton, as well as contributed to federal legislation on teacher workforce data.
Laura teaches 2nd grade at Isaac Tripp Elementary School, where she also sits on her district’s Equity Committee, Diversity Committee, SEL Committee, and Professional Development Committee. Laura is a member of her school’s School-Wide Positive Behavior Team and has served as district ambassador of the initiative. She was named a semi-finalist for Pennsylvania’s 2025 Teacher of the Year.
