Richardson ISD Leadership Fellowship

Leveraging teacher teams to address local student needs.

Districts are currently facing the task of reinventing their schools in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers, who have been connecting with students and families every day and deploying their creativity and determination to ensure learning does not falter, continue to play a critical role. The Richardson ISD Leadership Fellowship provides a structured and supportive space for teachers to create school-based solutions addressing local student needs.

Through the fellowship, teacher leaders, in collaboration with their principals and peers, examine school data to identify the scope of the pandemic’s social and emotional impact on their schools and students, and chart a path forward to solve problems of practice through continuous improvement.

What is the Leadership Fellowship?

Teach Plus partners with Richardson ISD to deploy a teacher-led fellowship for the 2022-2023 school year, focusing on five of the six Teach Plus equity focus areas and supporting customized, school-based solutions.  Each teacher leads a team of their peers to improve instructional practices and outcomes for their students.

What does Teach Plus Texas do?

Teach Plus Texas recruits, selects, trains, and supports outstanding Richardson ISD teachers who demonstrate effectiveness in their classroom and proficiency in their content area as well as the potential to effectively lead other teachers to lead a school-based effort to address a problem of practice in their building.

Teach Plus Texas provides Leadership Fellows with:

  • Leadership Training, during which fellows develop SMART goals and action plans to guide the issue that they want to address in their respective schools.
  • Personalized Coaching – including one-on-one coaching sessions, group coaching sessions, and cohort meetings – to support teacher leaders in their growth as educational leaders throughout the implementation of their action plans.  Teach Plus Texas coaches work with fellows to create individualized coaching plans that work best with their busy schedules.
  • Stipend in recognition of their time and effort and Implementation Funds to support a successful project execution.
