Along Teacher Leader Fellowship with Teach Plus
Teacher-Led Professional Learning
Thank you for your interest in the Along Teacher Leader Fellowship with Teach Plus! Launching later this fall, with generous support from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), we are looking to select a group of diverse teachers dedicated to strengthening teacher-student connections in their classrooms and schools. At Teach Plus, we know that teachers understand the needs of their students best, particularly in the current moment, and are best situated to inform emerging efforts to meet those needs. We’re excited to partner with CZI and Gradient Learning to share with you Along, a free tool designed to enable strong connections between students and their teachers through shared reflections.
As an Along Teacher Leader Fellow with Teach Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with and pilot Along in your own classroom alongside other teacher leaders across the country exploring what works best for your schools, your students, and your families.
You’ll be well-positioned and prepared, with support from Gradient Learning’s Content Lead to use the classroom-ready prompts, video and text-based messaging interface and other student and teacher-facing resources with your students. At the same time, your Teach Plus Education Leadership Coach will create a supportive space for you and other Along users to collaborate, problem-solve, and plan for successful use of the tool in your classrooms and schools. You’ll also have the opportunity to provide the product designers feedback on the tool, ensuring that the perspectives of teachers as users are included in its updates and on-going implementation. As you develop your skills as an Along user, you’ll simultaneously develop your skills as a teacher leader, positioning you to support other educators as they adopt the tool in the future.
To do this, you’ll commit 5-6 hours per month to learn about and use Along. You’ll participate in bi-weekly PLC meetings as you hone your craft alongside other users. In Spring 2023, your PLC meetings will shift to a monthly cadence and you’ll begin leading your own novice-user-focused PLC’s each month. Throughout, you’ll receive coaching support from your Education Leadership Coach. To honor your time and engagement, you will receive a $2,000 stipend.
