Program Overview

Teach Plus Texas Statewide Policy Fellowship

The Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellowship is a highly-selective leadership opportunity available to high-quality teachers across the state looking to deepen their knowledge of education policy and gain a voice in decisions that affect Texas students and the teaching profession. Policy Fellows participate in a year-long cohort experience, with an option to extend for a second year, being equipped and empowered to bridge the gap between teachers, key stakeholders, and policymakers in Texas, without ever having to leave the classroom. As a Fellow, you will become part of a larger movement of teacher leadership while learning how to impact critical policy issues impacting students and teachers.

At A Glance:
  • 12-month fellowship commitment, opportunity to extend into a 24-month commitment
  • $1,500 commitment stipend, paid at fellowship year completion
Open to all teachers that:
  • Have 2+ years teaching experience
  • Are a current Texas teacher of record (PK-12)
  • Teach in a traditional public or charter school
  • Are committed to staying in a student-facing role throughout the fellowship year

Teach Plus Texas Houston Policy Fellowship

The Teach Plus Texas Houston Policy Fellowship is a highly selective leadership opportunity available to excellent Houston-area teachers and Teach Plus program alumni looking to leverage their classroom experience and education policy knowledge to inform decisions affecting Houston-area students and teachers. Houston Policy Fellows participate in a year-long cohort experience (with the option for a second year), which equips them to bridge the gap between teachers, key stakeholders, and policymakers in the Houston area. As a Houston Policy Fellow, you will become part of a larger movement of teacher leadership while further developing your advocacy skills and amplifying your voice.

  • 12-month fellowship commitment
  • $2,500 commitment stipend, paid at fellowship year completion
Open to all teachers that:
  • current Texas teachers of record (PK-12),
  • with 2+ years of teaching experience,
  • that Teach in a traditional public or charter school in Houston-area districts, 
  • and are committed to staying in a student-facing role throughout the fellowship year

Richardson ISD Leadership Fellowship

The Richardson ISD Leadership Fellowship is a teacher-led fellowship that empowers excellent teachers to support customized, school-based solutions through the lens of Teach Plus’s Equity focus areas. Through the fellowship, teacher leaders, in collaboration with their principals and peers, will examine school data to identify the scope of COVID-19’s impact on their schools and students, and chart a path forward to solve problems of practice through continuous improvement.

  • 12-month fellowship commitment
  • $1,500 commitment stipend, paid at fellowship year completion

  • $500 in implementation funds
Open to all teachers that:
  • Have 2+ years teaching experience

  • Are a current Richardson ISD  teacher of record (PK-12)

  • Are committed to staying in a student-facing role throughout the fellowship year
