Alicia Serafin is a Teach Plus Greater Boston Teaching Policy Fellow. She is an ESL teacher at the Shawsheen Elementary School and West Intermediate School in Wilmington, MA. Alicia is the recipient of the Linda Schulman Innovation Fund grant to lead a professional learning community with the goal of developing students’ word consciousness using the Words Their Way program. She has previously taught ESL at a Level 1 Commendation School and led a professional learning community for teachers seeking ESL certification. She has received a UCLA Anderson Leadership Fellowship, was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Salem State University, and is certified as an ESL Supervisor Director. Alicia earned a BA in French from Cornell University. She holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Masters of Arts in Teaching, English as a Second Language from Salem State University.
