Kimberly Allen is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Illinois Affinity Group Facilitator and principal of Helen Huffman Elementary School in Cahokia Heights, Illinois. She focuses on climate, culture, and instruction with her staff, implementing new curriculum resources for English language arts and improving the professional learning communities (PLC) process. Kim received the Illinois State Board of Education’s Those Who Excel Award of Meritorious Service for School Administrators (2024). She is a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals, where she is an inaugural member of the Principals of Color Affinity Group and serves as chair of the Education Committee for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Branch 3013. She received a BS in special education and a MEd in educational leadership with an emphasis in administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
