Kari Barnett is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow. She teaches English at Grandview High School in Aurora, Colorado. Kari is a member of the school’s inclusive excellence and academic interventions teams. Before joining the faculty, Kari taught high school English in both Aurora Public Schools and Mesa County Valley Schools. She has served as a Professional Learning Community leader, assistant department coordinator, in-building curriculum and instruction coach, Link Crew coordinator, speech and debate coach, and sponsor of a variety of student-led clubs. Kari was named Aurora Public School’s Outstanding New Teacher (2000 – 2001). She has been a National Board Certified Teacher for 17 years and was selected as a delegate to the 98th Colorado Education Association Delegate Assembly. Kari graduated with honors from University of Northern Colorado with a BA in English: secondary education and minor in theater and from Regis University with an MA in education: teaching and learning.
