Kristen Berger is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow. Kristen is a 7th grade English language arts teacher and activism club coordinator at Williamsport Area Middle School in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She encourages her students to develop a love of reading and to use their voice to create change. Kristen began her teaching career in independent schools in Washington D.C. and New York City and has since taught middle and high school in public schools in Idaho and Pennsylvania. Kristen has presented at the National Council of Teachers of English Conference and has several published articles about incorporating social justice into the curriculum. Kristen also serves as a member of the Pennsylvania State Educators Association New Member Task Force. She earned her BA in sociology and education from Swarthmore College and an MA in education leadership, politics, and advocacy from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education.
