Valerie Brown is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow and Teach Plus ELI Advisory Cabinet member who teaches 5th grade at Hoover Elementary in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Valerie began her teaching career in Mt. Lebanon as a 1993 Elementary Intermediate Teacher for Mt. Lebanon School District and has since taught grades 3 through 5. Valerie is the Co-Chair of Pennsylvania State Education Association Celebrating Excellence Awards and has also served on the Board of Directors for the National Education Association, and was Mt. Lebanon Education Association President from 2019 -2021. She earned her BA in Human Services Administration and Elementary Teacher Certification from Chatham University, Pittsburgh.
