Fatim Byrd is a 2024-2025 Philadelphia Affinity Group Network Facilitator and Spanish instructor at Strawberry Mansion High School. Fatim has designed a culturally responsive Spanish language focused curriculum and provides data-informed, inquiry- and project-based language-learning instruction to thousands of middle and elementary school aged students. Over the past 10 years, Fatim has created opportunities for students to engage and immerse themselves in Spanish history, culture and language through classroom discussions, rigorous writing workshops, engaging literature and student informed content. Fatim earned his BA in Psychology and Spanish Literature from Temple University, a MA in Spanish Literature/Secondary Education from LaSalle University, and a certificate in Spanish Literature from the Universidad de Oviedo.
