Adriana Caballero is a 2024-2025 Illinois Policy Fellow and K-8 English Learner (EL) Assessment Teacher at Schaumburg SD54 in Schaumburg, Illinois. Adriana specializes in early literacy and language learning for grades K-2. She has presented at local, state, and international conferences. Adriana serves on the Illinois Education Association (IEA) board of directors where she chairs the Subcommittee on Racial and Social Justice; she is the past chairperson of the IEA Human and Civil Rights Committee. She is state coordinator and facilitator for the Leaders for Just Schools program. Adriana earned a BA in history with a specialization in United States race relations, along with a double major in political science and minor in Latina/Latino studies, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received a MAT in elementary education with endorsements in bilingual education, English as a second language, and social studies from Dominican University.
