Dr. Diala Chaney is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow and a high school journalism and English teacher at Oxford High School in Oxford. She also serves as an adjunct professor at The University of Mississippi where she teaches school law in the School of Education. Diala served on the faculty leadership council as a PLC leader for several years. Diala is a three-time winner of the Mississippi High School Newspaper Adviser of the Year award, and a past recipient of the Mississippi High School Yearbook Adviser of the Year award, as well as a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Special Recognition Adviser (2022). Diala began her teaching career in 2014 after practicing law for 10 years and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Diala received a BS in journalism and French from The University of Mississippi, a JD from The University of Mississippi School of Law, her LLM in taxation from The University of Alabama School of Law, and her PhD in education leadership from The University of Mississippi.
