Chris Stanley is a Teach Plus Rhode Island Teaching Policy Fellow who has taught at Ponaganset High School for nearly 20 years. He teaches courses in AP US history, criminal justice, and foreign affairs. He has served as the school’s mock trial coach and class advisor, and established an annual bonfire tradition. In 2000, Chris ran for Secretary of State and was also elected to represent the 1st Congressional District as a McCain delegate to the GOP Nominating Convention. Chris is also serving his 8th term on the Warren Town Council. In his spare time, he volunteers as a 1st Lieutenant with the Warren Fire Department. In 2016 the Gilder Lehrman Institute named him RI’s History Teacher of the Year. Chris earned his BA in history and secondary education from Providence College and his MA in Central and Eastern European studies from LaSalle University.
