Mary Lou Clough is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow. She is an English as a second language (ESL) Resource Teacher at Frontier Elementary in Colorado Springs, Colorado, focusing on teaching multilingual students English, creating healthy students, staff, and families, and mentoring other staff members. Mary Lou has been the Healthy Schools Committee Co-Leader, member of the building leadership team, mentor to new staff, and assisted with district-approval processes for new curriculum. She began her teaching career in the Pacific Northwest, worked as Assistant Language Teacher in Japanese middle schools in Tokyo, was employed in Department of Defense Dependent Schools and a private school in Okinawa, Japan, and has taught English to kindergarten-5th grade students in Colorado Springs for the past 21 years. She earned her BA in elementary education from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, and an MA in education from Troy State University on the Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa.
