Erika DeLaRosa is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Texas Houston Policy Fellow. Erika is a 7th grade English language arts teacher and department chair at Baylor College of Medicine Biotech Academy at Rusk in Houston, Texas. She prioritizes knowing and honoring the varied experiences and cultures of her students to ensure that they are exposed to curriculum that validates, inspires, and empowers them. Her experience includes teaching 6th grade English language arts and 6th grade English as a second language. She is a Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellowship alumna and a Latinos for Education Teacher Fellow. She interned with The Education Trust and engaged in coalition work to pursue more just policies to support the education of all children. She earned her BS in interdisciplinary studies and English language arts/social studies 4-8 teaching credential from Texas A&M University, and an MEd in curriculum and instruction from The University of Houston.
