Alexandria Drake is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow and is a 10th-grade U.S. history teacher at the JPS-Tougaloo Early College High School in Jackson. As she teaches U.S. history, government, and economics, she endeavors to create a safe space in her classroom for students to learn more about themselves and their communities. She serves as a teacher mentor in the Jackson Public School District. Alexandria was named 2022 Mississippi History Teacher of the Year and was nominated for the 2024 Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year Award. She serves on the Mississippi Teacher Advisory Council and is a National Board Certified Teacher. She earned a BS in social science education from Jackson State University and an MA in African and African diaspora studies from The University of Texas at Austin.
