Elizabeth Retana is an instructional leader at Carpe Diem Meridian, located in downtown Indianapolis. Elizabeth develops curriculum and facilitates English and Language Arts workshops for 6th through 12th grade students. She has created a reading intervention program to provide intensive support to struggling readers and serves as faculty advisor for Carpe Diem’s student government, literary magazine, and dance marathon. She previously taught Title 1 Reading at the Indianapolis Public Schools, where she was named her school’s Teacher of the Year. Prior to that, Sabrina spent two years teaching humanities to elementary students in Washington, D.C. Elizabeth began volunteering with students through the American Legion Auxiliary’s Hoosier Girls State program and was a Teach for America corps member after college. She graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Kinesiology and from Marian University with a Master of Arts in Teaching.
