Grace Garza is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow and a special education teacher at Mead Elementary in San Antonio. Grace has implemented functional academics and daily living skills to promote independence. Grace has coached the Special Olympics and started a community garden of native plants to help promote a biodiverse and healthy ecosystem. She participated in the 88th Texas Legislature with Raise Your Hand Texas using her teacher voice to advocate for staff and students. She serves on the Commission on Strengthening Family Well-Being which advises the City Council of San Antonio on matters affecting the well-being of residents and families. Grace is certified in general education early childhood kindergarten through 4th grade and special education kindergarten through 12th grade. Grace holds a BA in general education and minor in special education from Our Lady of the Lake University.
