Karen Guilmet is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Massachusetts Policy Fellow and an 8th grade ELA advanced educator in Lawrence Public Schools. Karen focuses on working with students with disabilities, providing caring, rigorous education to students of all abilities. She serves as her school’s union representative, ensuring teacher’s voices are heard on committees such as the school’s leadership and instructional teams. Karen was named as a Rising Star Educator in 2020 and she has been a district mentor since 2019. In 2016, Karen became a NAATE fellow and has been an active member of the local teacher’s union for 9 years. Karen earned her BA in both Political Science and English from Merrimack College in 1999; she earned her MEd in Elementary Education from Texas State University in 2005; and is currently working on her EdD in Leadership from Northcentral University.
