Elsa Herraez Hernandez

Elsa Herraez Hernandez is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Massachusetts Policy Fellow. Elsa is a high school life science teacher, instructional lead, and rethinking grading fellow at Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. She focuses on keeping the students at the center of the classroom, actively engaging them in discovery activities that spark their curiosity. Elsa leads Professional Learning Community groups at her school as grade-level instructional lead and science department coordinator. She also collaborates with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as the fellow at her school for their Rethinking Grading program. Elsa was named Massachusetts finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. She earned her BS in biology from University of Balearic Islands, an MS in food biology and biotechnology from University of Barcelona, and a PhD in molecular biology from Heidelberg University.
