Eric Hitchner is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Senior Policy Fellow. He began his teaching career in Philadelphia and has taught a wide range of high school English classes, from creative writing to dual-enrollment courses, before adding a new role as an English as a Second Language (ESL) coordinator. Eric was the Building 21 Teacher Cornerstone Award Winner and is a Philadelphia Learning Collaborative alumnus, as well as Philadelphia Alliance to Restore School Librarians (PARSL) member advocating for returning libraries and librarians to the School District of Philadelphia. He is the founder and steward of the Building 21 library. Eric earned his BA in English and MAEd with a concentration in English from Arcadia University before returning there to complete an ESL certificate.
