Hjamil A. Martínez-Vázquez is a 2020-21 Texas Senior Policy Fellow. He teaches 4th/5th grade SLAR/ELAR at ACE Demonstration and Design Lab at J.A. Hargrave Elementary, where he is a member of the LPAC committee and a UIL coach. Hjamil is a member of the District’s Bilingual Program Review Committee and the Power Standards committee, and writer for the SLAR/ELAR Bilingual Curriculum. He was selected as a CISD Demonstration Classroom teacher (19-20) and as a campus Teacher of the Year at Mary Harris Intermediate (18-19). He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a BA in Social Science, obtained an MA in Religion from the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico, and received his Th.M. and Ph.D. in Religious History from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.
