Jacob Carlson is a Teach Plus Illinois Teaching Policy Fellow. Jacob teaches English at Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto, IL, where he is also an instructional coach for the district. Jacob was a finalist for the Illinois Early Career Educator of the Year in 2015. In 2016, he was part of an Illinois Network of State Teachers of the Year team whose submission of a state plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act was awarded a Top 12 National Finalist designation at the Agents for Learning competition. He remains active in the teacher training process by serving on the Secondary English Education Portfolio Screening committee at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). He graduated from SIUE with a BS in English and is pursuing his MA in English and American Literature.
