Lanae Jimenez is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow. She teaches English and English Language Development (ELD) at Azusa High School in Azusa, California. Lanae advocates for her school’s newcomer students, ensuring they have the support and resources they need to succeed. She previously served as a representative for English learners on her school’s leadership team, and has developed and facilitated professional learning sessions on collaborative classroom conversations, schoolwide writing initiatives, implementing ELD standards, and building community. Lanae was Azusa High School’s Teacher of the Year (2017-2018) and a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Los Angeles Emergent Bilingual Change Agent (LA EBCAN). She earned her BA in literature and writing studies and her single-subject teaching credential in English from California State University, San Marcos, and her MA in English from California Polytechnic University, Pomona.
