Jitka Nelson is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Indiana Teaching Policy Fellow. Jitka teaches English for English Learners (ELs) – English 9, English 10, ESL Academic Lab, and ENL Newcomer Lab at Logansport Community High School in Logansport, Indiana, where she collaborates with faculty in the area of accommodations for ELs in instruction, assessment, and placement. Jitka is the 2016 Logansport School District Teacher of the Year, 2017 Indiana State Teacher of the Year, and the Indiana University Armstrong Teacher Educator. She graduated from the University of Southern Bohemia, Czechoslovakia with a BA in Secondary Education and an MA in Linguistics: Teaching Russian as a Second Language.
