Josue Tamarez Torres is a 2018-19 Teach Plus DFW Policy Fellow. Joue teaches 4th grade math at Cesar Chavez Learning Center, where he also serves as a teacher leader and is one of four teachers serving in the Campus Instructional Leadership Team (CILT). Previously, he worked as a 5th grade math teacher and grade level chair at Annie Webb Blanton. Josue is a Teach for America alum (Dallas-Fort Worth ’11) and a 2015 Teaching Trust Ed Fellow. He was named 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year by Dallas ISD and by the Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce. His students’ performance on the math STAAR test was highlighted by D-Magazine and the Dallas Morning News. Josue graduated from Baruch College, New York, with a BBA in Finance and a Minor in mathematics.
