Karen Ng Reyes is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and a special education teacher at Edison Regional Gifted Center in Chicago. She works with students who have diverse needs and are identified as Gifted and Talented. In addition to providing services to students between kindergarten and eighth grade, Karen also serves as the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Coordinator and Co-Facilitator of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative at her school. Prior to joining Edison, Karen taught within the KIPP Charter school network, founding new schools and grade levels in both Houston and Chicago. Karen has been the recipient of several grants from the Chicago Foundation of Education, including one to create a sensory room within her current school. She is also currently part of the National SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) Cohort. She graduated with a BS in Elementary Education and earned her MS in Special Education from Loyola University Chicago.
