Dr. Épryl King is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Equity Leadership Institute member and 2nd grade teacher and teacher leader at Evergreen Elementary in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Épryl began her career as a 3rd grade teacher in North Carolina. She co-founded Raising Achievement in Monroeville and Pitcairn, where she served as president for 15 years. As a teacher-on-assignment, she worked with teachers on culturally responsive practices. Épryl is an adjunct professor at a local university teaching a course titled Culturally Responsive Teachers, Schools and Communities. She was a Pittsburgh Pirates All Star Teacher (2021) and was awarded the YWCA’s Racial Justice Award (2012) and the Pennsylvania State Education Association’s (PSEA) Human and Civil Rights Award (2010). Épryl has a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, MEd in curriculum and instruction from Gannon University, and EdD in curriculum and instruction from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
