Kalua Lauber is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow, and 11th Grade Advanced Placement language and composition and 10th grade advanced English at Taft High School in San Antonio. She is a National Board Certified Teacher, receiving her Maintenance of National Board Certification (2023). In addition, she was a mentor teacher for the Texas National Board candidates of color pursuing National Board Certification (2024-2025) and facilitated National Board preparation groups across the country. Kalua is a U.S. Holocaust Museum Fellow and was named Model Teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District (2006). She earned her BA in speech/theater from Louisiana State University, MAEd/TED-S in secondary education from University of Phoenix, and is seeking dual credit English certification from St. Mary’s University, through a collaboration with Alamo Colleges and Northside Independent School District.
