Jenny Maehara is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent. She is an Instructional Coach at Ponderosa Elementary School in Sunnyvale, California. Jenny has taught 3rd and 4th grade and been a cooperating teacher and induction mentor, as well as an English language arts (ELA)/English language development (ELD) Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) for Santa Clara Unified School District. She received Ponderosa’s Parent, Teacher, Student Association’s (PTSA) Golden Oak Award (2012), Mason-McDuffie Teaching Award (2014), and Ponderosa PTSA’s Outstanding Teacher Award (2024). She is a National Board Certified teacher in early and middle childhood literacy (2011 and 2020), serves as the Grants Committee Chair for the United Teachers of Santa Clara (UTSC), and is a Senior Advisory Board Member for the Intrepid Philanthropy Foundation. Jenny earned her BA in human biology and MA in elementary education from Stanford University and administrative credential from the Reach Instructional Leadership Academy.
