Maggie Lasaga-Flister is a Teach Plus Maryland Teaching Policy Fellow who teaches 4th grade math and science and middle school Spanish at Thomas Johnson Elementary/Middle school. Maggie is the math representative, serves on the instructional leadership team, and is a lead on the gifted and advanced learner committee. She also serves as a math professional development facilitator and a curriculum writer for Baltimore City Public Schools. Maggie is a master teacher for the Maryland State Department of Education in the area of elementary math and a current fellow with the Maryland cohort of Leading Educators. Prior to becoming a teacher, Maggie worked for the Johns Hopkins Center for Organization of Schools where she consulted with low-performing schools across the United States. Maggie graduated from Virginia Tech University with a BA in Psychology and earned an MA in Applied Developmental Psychology with an emphasis on education from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
