Mario Andrade is a Teach Plus Los Angeles Teaching Policy Fellow. Mario teaches 4th grade Long Term English Learners (LTEL) at Teresa Hughes Elementary School, where he provides students the before- and after-school access to modern band instruments and serves as the school’s union chapter chair. He previously served as magnet coordinator at Independence Elementary School. Mario became a teacher after being inspired by his high school English teacher’s positive attitude and ability to connect with students on a personal level. He earned a BA in English and Mexican American Studies from California State University, Dominguez Hills and received his MEd in Administration from California State University, Northridge.
