Marisa Crabtree and her colleagues are studying the rigor of the tasks they assign to students and determining opportunities to support students with the knowledge and skills they need to successfully engage in those tasks. Marisa teaches 9th grade English, advanced English language development, and AP language and composition at Abraham Lincoln Senior High School, where she also coaches the academic decathlon team and sponsors the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) club. Marisa is a member of the district’s English language development teacher leadership team, an alumna of the Teach Plus Los Angeles Teaching Policy Fellowship, an Educators for Excellence Summer Resident, and a Lead Summer Resident. She currently serves as her school’s United Teacher Los Angeles (UTLA) chapter chair and representative. In 2017, she received the E4E Rebel with a Cause award for her work advocating for students, schools, and communities through her district and union positions. She graduated from Tulane University with a BA in English and received her MEd in School Counseling and Guidance from Point Loma Nazarene University.
