Martin Gonzalez is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow. Martin teaches 6th-12th grade social studies at the Estrada Achievement Center, San Antonio ISD’s disciplinary alternative education program. He serves on the campus leadership team and is a mentor teacher to new teachers. A 2015 Teach For America corps member, Martin received the Rising Star New Teacher of the Year Award from San Antonio ISD. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with BA in English and American Literature and a minor in Philosophy and is currently pursuing his MEd in Educational Leadership through the Urban School Leaders Collaborative at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
