Andrew McKenzie is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Indiana Policy Fellow and an all-grade physical education teacher at Fairview Elementary School in Bloomington. While his focus is on physical health, he also leads his students through social emotional development, restorative practices, math, reading, and behavioral support. He is also a member of his school’s Equity Team. Drew was named a City of Bloomington 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year award recipient and was named the 2023 Outstanding Future Black Leader of Tomorrow by the City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Black Males. Drew volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central Indiana, sits on the Board of Directors for Monroe County Youth Football, and more. He earned his BS in kinesiology at Indiana University-Bloomington and holds a MA in online teaching and learning from Indiana Wesleyan University.
