Margaret Nelson is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow. She is a 3rd grade teacher, New Teacher Coordinator, Math Lead, Tutoring Coordinator, and after-school dance teacher leader at Minnequa Elementary School in Pueblo, Colorado. She supports and mentors new teachers, helps organize after-school tutoring and math professional development for teachers, and runs after-school dance programming to provide movement and performance opportunities to students. Margaret has experience founding and leading a mentorship program between college students and high school scholars in Washington, D.C., where she also worked as a teachers’ assistant in a Montessori school. She began her teaching career in Colorado as a 2021 Teach for America corps member. She earned her dual BS in public health and economics from George Washington University and an MS in curriculum and instruction from Western Governors University.
