Tim Nelson is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Colorado Charter Teacher Policy Fellow who teaches 8th grade English language arts at Denver School of Science and Technology: Cole Middle School in Denver. In his capacity as 8th grade team leader, Tim focuses on fostering a sense of belonging, joy, and academic engagement among students and creating alignment between staff. Previously, he served in teacher leadership roles focused on curriculum development, collaboration, and internalization in the DSST network. Tim has won the Flower Man Award and multiple DSST Network honors for contributions to school culture and was recognized as a lead teacher for his instruction. Prior to teaching at DSST, Tim served as a 6-8th ELA teacher at Santa Cruz Catholic School in Tucson, Arizona, as part of the Alliance for Catholic Education. He earned his BA in English and theology and MEd in curriculum and instruction from the University of Notre Dame.
