Dawn Nicolazzo is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Equity Leadership Institute member and Library Media Specialist at Gateway High School in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. She is the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy advisor, chairperson of the building equity committee, department chair, and member of the Student Assistance Program and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) teams. Dawn began her career as an elementary teacher in a parochial school and then moved to an urban district where she taught grades 2-5. She was a local education association leader, as well as mentored students during and after school at the middle and high school level. Dawn was named “New Teacher of the Year” by the Diocese of Pittsburgh (1989). She earned her BS in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, School Library Certification PreK-12 from University of Pittsburgh, and an MEd in educational leadership and administration from Gwynedd Mercy University.
