Gigette Nieto is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus New Mexico Policy Fellow, an 8th grade special education math teacher, and mentor teacher at Rio Rancho Middle School. She focuses on teaching students on IEP’s 8th grade math concepts, and assists them in finding and developing their strengths in math. She has participated in the Rio Rancho District Middle School curriculum & instruction committee. In 2018, she received a rating of exemplary as a math teacher which earned her a $10,000 bonus. Gigette serves on the Hispanic Education Advisory Council as secretary. She has earned a BA in sociology and a BA in communication from the University of New Mexico. She has a Master’s degree in special education from New Mexico Highlands University where she is also pursuing her administrative licensure.
