Tosin Olowu is a 2024-2025 Illinois Policy Fellow and a 3rd grade teacher leader at Donoghue Elementary in Chicago, Illinois. She focuses on fostering social-emotional health, literacy, and critical thinking among students through targeted interventions and curriculum development. During her student teaching in Champaign and Verona, Italy, she developed a nuanced perspective on education, which influenced her approach to teaching and leadership. She received the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship (2022) and the Golden Apple Scholarship (2020). Tosin graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2022, where she started her student teaching with intermediate grades in a dual language setting. She continued teaching in Italy with the same age group. She earned her BS in elementary education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she gained a solid foundation in educational theory and practice.
