Angel Peterson is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and a 1st grade instructional interventionist at King Elementary School in Galesburg, Illinois. She focuses on curriculum and development through direct support with teachers, supplemental curriculum research, and serving on the district-wide curriculum leaders committee. Angel was selected as a Fulbright-Hays Award winner. She was one of 14 teachers across the country to study in the Philippines for education research and curriculum development. Angel is active in her community as both an active local and state level union leader. She has also served as a VISTA worker through AmeriCorps serving low-income families through meal assistance programs and tutoring services. Angel earned her BA in elementary education from the University of Northern Iowa. She is working toward an MEd in curriculum and instruction through Western Illinois University.
