Leigh Prejean is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Texas Houston Policy Fellow. She teaches Making Connections for 9th and 10th grade students at Klein Independent School District in Houston, Texas. Leigh has been a teacher in other school districts in the Houston area, as well as taught preK-8 grades when she served as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) teacher and Teacher Fellow. In fact, she has taught all core subjects in elementary school and served as math team lead for virtual and in-person learning. She is an advocate for equity, believes in “relationships over rigor” and promotes educating the whole child. Leigh earned Teacher of the Month accolades across districts and holds a BS in teaching and learning from the University of Houston. Leigh is certified in English as a second language, special education, and holds a Social Emotional Learning Facilitator Certificate.
