Jill Rivera Myers is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow. Jill is a 9th and 10th grade English teacher and lead mentor for the Raices Encontradas Mentor Program at Norristown Area High School in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Her mentor program supports young Latino men and their families both academically and emotionally and guides them into post-secondary educational options. She is a member of the One Book, One Norristown leadership team which fosters a connection between the arts, literacy, social justice and community. Jill co-created the Young Scholars Mentor program in 2012, and was the lead mentor through 2020. Jill previously served as the chair of the Norristown Local NAACP Youth Committee, as well as the site lead for 21st Century After School Programs. She earned a BS in secondary English education, and an MA in curriculum and instruction from Temple University. Jill is working on a second MA in literature from West Chester University.
