Sarah De Smet teaches at Academic Leadership Community, an LAUSD pilot school located on the Miguel Contreras Learning Complex in downtown Los Angeles. Sarah began her teaching career in East Los Angeles at Synergy Quantum Academy charter school, teaching Honors Algebra 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry. Sarah’s ultimate goal is to help improve math education via curriculum development that supports the Common Core State Standards. She graduated from University of California Berkeley with a double major in mathematics and economics, and earned her Masters in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as part of the UCLA Urban residency program.
