Dr. Tony Schiera is a 2025 Teach Plus National Teacher Policy Cabinet member, he teaches tenth-grade English and serves as the yearbook advisor at Ware Shoals High School in Ware Shoals, SC.
Dr. Schiera has more than 25 years of teaching experience at the secondary and university levels throughout the US and overseas. He is passionate about the teaching of writing and the skills and abilities students can learn in this area and transfer to other venues where writing occurs.
Dr. Schiera brings a rich academic background to his role, holding a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He achieved public school licensure in 2006 through an alternative certification route.
