Amanda Shane is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Illinois Chicago Change Agent and a high school ESL teacher, English language program teacher, and new teacher mentor at Peace and Education Coalition High School. She helps coordinate the school’s English language learners and newcomer program, helping to support and meet the needs of emergent bilingual students, as well as supporting teachers in developing strategies to develop instruction geared towards emergent bilingual students. Amanda is WIDA certified and has experience as school testing coordinator for WIDA-related assessments. She earned her BA in English with a certification in secondary education and a minor in Spanish from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She received an ESL/Bilingual Teacher endorsement and is working on an MEd in reading with a reading specialist focus from National Louis University.
